Dairy Farming
The applications in dairy farming are centred around improving your
biggest asset….your soil. So the aim is get your biological activity
cranked up. That means effective organic matter recycling, to build
humus…the food for your soil and plants, Improvements in nitrogen
fixation, greater micorrhyzal activity, leading to more effective
nutrient availability.
Clover has been shown to increase with EM applications…read more
Therefore the target is your pastures and soils. To apply EM
directly with a sprayer or irrigator. We have applied EM by helicopter
and fixed wing plane, either alone or together with fertilizers (Fine
particle or liquid fertilizers have been used)

Key applications for Dairy farming
-
On pastures, apply 20 litres EM-A per ha with as much
water as possible, target key periods such as early spring, and mid
summer through to autumn to combat fungal toxin periods, ie facial
excema, and dead material accumulation.
-
Combine with fertilizer applications to increase efficacy of applications (10-20 litres EM-A/ha
-
Animals can be dosed with EM to improve digestion and health
-
If you are feeding concentrates, a feed Bokashi made with EM, can be included to improve animal health and digestion.
-
Using EM in the washdown water will inoculate the effluent pond,
improving pond function, reducing pond maintenaince (no crusting), and
will generate a microbial liquid fertilizer, that will vastly improve
those pasture areas that are irrigated with this fertiliser. This
technique is an excellent way to use EM on your dairy farm.
-
Spray animal enclosures with 10% solution
of EM with water to control odours, to improve sanitation of bedding
and housing. E.g. Calfs, pigs, hens
-
Apply as an innoculant when making silage or baleage
